School Occupational Therapist
• Assess students to identify functional, motor, sensory, and self-care needs that affect educational performance.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and goals based on student needs and educational requirements.
• Provide direct occupational therapy services in individual or group settings.
• Implement interventions to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, self-regulation, and activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting intervention plans as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, special educators, and other professionals to support student success.
• Recommend and assist with adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary evaluations.
• Provide consultation and training to school staff regarding strategies to support student participation and independence.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with school policies and legal requirements.
• Stay current with professional standards, research, and best practices in occupational therapy.
Skills & Competencies:
• Expertise in pediatric occupational therapy assessment and intervention techniques.
• Knowledge of child development, special education regulations, and school-based therapy practices.
• Ability to develop effective strategies that support student participation and independence.
• Strong problem-solving, assessment, and documentation skills.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and engage students.
Working Conditions:
• Primarily school-based, working with students of diverse ages and abilities.
• May involve movement between classrooms, therapy rooms, and multiple school sites.
