• Turbine Efficiency: Oversee the continuous operation and efficiency of hydro-specific generation assets including hydro-turbines (Francis, Kaplan, or Pelton), generators, governors, and main inlet valves (MIV).
• Grid Coordination: Maintain tight coordination with the Grid Load Dispatch Center to manage power generation targets, voltage regulation, ancillary services, and spinning reserves.
• Dam & Hydrological Safety: Oversee regular monitoring of dam safety instrumentation, spillway gate operations, intake structures, and penstock integrity to prevent structural failures.

2. Maintenance & Long-Term Asset Integrity
• Specialized Hydro Maintenance: Design and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for heavy electro-mechanical and hydro-mechanical equipment (e.g., stator/rotor windings, transformers, turbine runners, and cavitation repairs).
• Outage Management: Plan and lead major plant outages, annual maintenance shutdowns, generator rewinding, and capital upgrade projects.
• Silt & Debris Management: Oversee the operation of trash racks, trash raking machines, and desilting chambers to protect turbines from debris and silt erosion.

3. Regulatory, Safety & Environmental Compliance
• Environmental Stewardship: Ensure strict compliance with environmental flow requirements (e-flow), water quality standards, fish passage regulations, and wildlife preservation acts.
• Health & Safety Excellence: Enforce a zero-harm culture by strictly implementing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols for high-voltage systems and confined space safety measures inside penstocks and scroll cases.
• Dam Safety Compliance: Manage regulatory compliance with national dam safety authorities and lead routine emergency drill simulations for dam breaches or flash floods.

4. Financial & Workforce Leadership
• Budget Accountability: Control and optimize the annual Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Capital Expenditure (CapEx) budgets for the plant.
• Team Development: Train, mentor, and lead a specialized site team of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, control room operators, and dam safety technicians.
