Shop Drawing Supervisor
Job Purpose / Summary
• The Shop Drawing Supervisor manages the day-to-day execution of drawing tasks assigned by the Manager, ensuring the team produces accurate, standards-compliant drawings and that approved drawings are issued to all relevant departments on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
• Task Delegation & Priority Management: Receive project assignments from the Shop Drawing Manager, assign clear tasks to team members, and track the work through to completion.
• Pre-Production Technical Review: Review 3D models and internal quotations to identify and resolve discrepancies before assigning drafting work.
• Team Leadership & Standards Mentorship: Guide drafting staff on technical detailing conventions and drawing methods, and ensure strict compliance with company drafting standards.
• Quality Assurance & Verification: Check drawings thoroughly at every stage to make sure they are accurate, complete, and match the original 3D design before submitting for approval.
• Cross-Functional Technical Support: Coordinate with the 3D Team to obtain approval on 2D shop drawings, follow up on pending design details before submitting them to Production, and act as the main point of contact for the Production, QS, Site, and Installer teams on questions about submitted 2D shop drawings.
• Issue Escalation & Resolution: Resolve daily technical issues independently, and escalate complex structural or design conflicts to the Manager in a timely manner.
• Document Control & Distribution: Consolidate finalized drawing sets, then issue approved drawings to the QS, BOM (Factory), Production, and Site/Installer teams.
Daily Tasks
• Task Delegation & Workflow Management: Review daily objectives from management and assign drawing work to Senior Officers and Officers to keep workloads balanced.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Regular spot-checks on in-progress CAD drawings to maintain technical accuracy, drafting standards, and quality control.

Required Qualifications & Experience
• Education Background: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Drafting, or a related technical field.
• Relevant Experience & Leadership: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in shop drawing or CAD detailing, including at least 1-2 years leading or coordinating a small team.
• Manufacturing & Subcontractor Management: Solid understanding of production processes, steelwork, and subcontracting workflows in a manufacturing or fit-out environment.
• Site Operations: Hands-on experience with local interior construction sites and structural installation standards.
Technical Skills / Software Knowledge
• Advanced AutoCAD Proficiency: Highly skilled in producing 2D shop drawings and comprehensive construction documentation.
• 3D-to-2D Design Feasibility: Skilled in interpreting SketchUp models, identifying design discrepancies, and evaluating what can realistically be built.
• Issue Resolution: Capable of resolving 2D shop drawing issues independently, working alongside the Production, Site, and Installation teams.
• Task Management & Reporting: Skilled in Microsoft Office for tracking project milestones, documentation, and progress reporting.
Soft Skills
• Cross-Departmental Communication: Clear, effective communicator skilled at aligning with internal team members and cross-functional departments.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Proven coaching ability to mentor junior staff, foster technical growth, and guide daily workflows.
