Develop and adapt small-scale and commercial insect farming production models that are technically feasible, cost-effective, and suitable for smallholder farmers particularly for crickets, grasshoppers, and black soldier flies
Prepare insect farming guidelines: production manuals on breeding, feeding, housing, harvesting, and processing and delivering ToTs to extension staff, field facilitators, CAOs and hands-on coaching to smallholder farmers on insect breeding, feeding, housing, hygiene, harvesting, and processing techniques
Support the establishment of pilot and demonstration insect farming units to showcase good practices and viable business models
Promote quality control, food safety, and basic processing and storage standards to improve product quality and market acceptance
Facilitate linkages between insect producers, buyers, feed suppliers, and processors to strengthen market access and value chain development
Integrate insect farming into nutrition-sensitive agriculture and livelihood diversification activities, particularly for women and vulnerable households
Document technical lessons, good practices, and operational challenges to support learning and scaling of insect farming.
