Associate SEN Teacher [Local Only]

1. General Responsibilities:
● Provide care and ensure the safety and well-being of every child in the school
● Be responsible, in conjunction with SEN Teachers and other stakeholders, for ensuring adequate supervision of a safe recreation and play period for the students during class recess or break times.
● Work as part of the Eduinvest CARE team, communicating with the SEN Teachers and with the administrative staff as necessary.
● Speak and behave in a professional manner towards all parents, students, and staff of Eduinvest CARE
2. Specific Responsibilities:
● Works with and for the students in the most non-disruptive/non-attention getting ways
● Derives instructional assistance from the supervising teacher
● Simplifies the lessons and uses appropriate instructional materials, as approved by the supervising teacher
● Assists in producing instructional materials approved by the supervising teacher
● Assists in directing the student’s attention towards the class teacher
● Assists in the physical/behavioral management of the child during routine (lining up, putting toys in place, etc) and also during group activities (circle time, action singing, etc.)
● Records developmental progress and keeps accurate observation logs for assigned students
● Confers with the supervising teacher about the progress of the students
Assists in following up with the parents and reports to the supervising teacher the student’s home achievement whenever needed
● Provides helpful opportunities for students to build independence and perform tasks by themselves
● Confer regularly with the supervising teacher regarding student progress and home achievement follow-ups.
3. Acting and Operational Responsibilities:
● Implement existing intervention plans, IEPs, and schedules
● Coordinate day-to-day SEN support services and provide guidance to Learning Facilitators (LFs) regarding established strategies
● Respond to routine student support needs using standard established procedures.
4. Ethical Responsibilities:
● Observe strictly the Eduinvest Policies, Internal Rules and Protocols
● Make use of constructive criticism and avoid the use of sarcasm, undue criticism, inappropriate language, and behaviors
● Observe professional lines of supervision and communication at all times, inside and outside the school and the community
● Respect and strictly protect the confidentiality of student records and personal information.
5. Scope Authority Restrictions:
● The Assistant SEN Teacher is not authorized to independently approve or finalize Individual Education Plans (IEPs), issue formal assessment reports, make independent eligibility/placement decisions, sign official SEN documentation, or communicate formal recommendations directly to parents without prior review and approval by the SEN Teacher/CARE Director.
6. Professional Development and Career Pathway:
● Participate actively in coaching, mentoring, and professional learning provided by the SEN Teacher and CARE Director. Actively build knowledge of inclusive education, differentiated instruction, assessment practices, and behavior support while demonstrating increasing independence.
● This position is structured as a developmental role. Subject to satisfactory performance evaluations, successful completion of training, and demonstrated competence, the Assistant SEN Teacher may be considered for promotion to SEN Teacher when a suitable opportunity arises.
