Electrical Engineering $1,000 to $1,500 (Location: Construction Site in Pursat Province)
Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and continuous operation of the hydroelectric plant's electrical systems. This role focuses on managing the electrical infrastructure that converts hydraulic energy into grid-ready electricity, specifically focusing on hydro-turbines, large-scale hydro-generators, excitation systems, governors, and high-voltage substations. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge of heavy electrical machinery with proactive maintenance practices to maximize water-to-wire efficiency and grid stability.
Job Description
• Hydro-Generator & Turbine Control: Oversee the operation, synchronization, and control of hydro-generators, excitation systems, and digital hydraulic governors.
• High-Voltage Substations & Transmission: Manage and maintain plant substations, including step-up transformers, switchyards, circuit breakers, and protection relays connected to the national grid.
• Auxiliary Power Systems: Ensure the reliability of critical plant auxiliary systems, including DC battery banks, emergency diesel generators, and drainage/cooling pump controls.
• SCADA & Automation Integration: Monitor plant performance and water flow data using SCADA and PLC networks to optimize generation based on seasonal water levels and grid demand.
• Preventive Maintenance & Outage Planning: Plan and execute routine testing (e.g., insulation resistance, winding tests) and manage electrical overhaul projects during scheduled low-flow or dry-season maintenance windows.
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce strict high-voltage safety protocols (e.g., lockout/ tagout) and ensure operations align with environmental regulations and utility grid codes.
