SDET(Software Development Engineer in Test) Engineer — Financial Services Platform
Job Description
We're building a QA function to validate an internal cloud-native microservices (MSA) framework used to build financial-services platforms — APIs, event/batch pipelines, admin tooling, and the infrastructure it runs on.
You will:
• Design and execute test cases against written specifications; run and maintain the API Integration Test Catalog
• Write and maintain automated tests across layers — unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end
• Track requirement-to-test coverage and flag untested requirements
• Review CI/CD quality gate results (SonarQube, Trivy) and investigate build-blocking issues
• Run deep-dive testing cycles and write result reports — root cause, blast radius, and prevention, not just pass/fail
• Work with the platform dev team to reproduce, document, and verify bug fixes end to end
• Where the spec is silent (performance testing, contract testing, frontend E2E), propose and document the standard yourself
• Participate in ongoing test-strategy decisions — several testing domains here are being defined for the first time
Hires start from a shared generalist baseline, then grow into a focus area based on observed strengths: Backend/API, Event & Batch, Frontend/E2E, Performance & Quality Automation, or AI & Emerging Tech.

Job Requirements
• 3–5 years in software engineering, QA/SDET, or a closely related discipline
• Working knowledge of at least one backend language (Java preferred) and solid understanding of REST/gRPC APIs
• Hands-on cloud operations experience — you've actually deployed, monitored, or troubleshot workloads (AWS, on-prem Kubernetes, or similar), not just read about it
• Comfortable reading and reasoning about code you didn't write, including production code with incomplete documentation
• Clear written communication — test cases, defect reports, and deep-dive reports others rely on without follow-up questions
• CS degree or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Some exposure to frontend development (HTML/CSS/JS, React or similar) — expected across the team, not every individual
• No resistance to AI-assisted development — comfortable using AI tools as a normal part of writing tests, analyzing logs, drafting reports
What we screen for over any specific tool checklist: genuine drive to root-cause hard problems, solid CS fundamentals (data structures, OS, networking, algorithms), hands-on cloud operations ability, and comfort working alongside AI tools.
