Swimming Coach
- Teaching and coaching
- Teach classes delivered as part of the daytime PE/Swimming Program; support students of all ages and varying ability levels to build technical swimming skills, an understanding of water safety, and confidence in the water
- Provide assisting during training sessions in the competitive swimming program
- Teach and coach according to the learning objectives established for each swimming class/session
- Ensure pool users understand and follow pool rules
- Create an inclusive, welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment, and use positive behavioral supports, as per the Alberta Education Teaching Quality Standard
- Support and follow CIS policies and procedures
- Attend all swim meets
- Assist with organizing CIS swim meets
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Health and safety
- Conduct routine risk assessment and safety inspections of the swimming facilities including the pool areas, equipment and water to be sure it is safe to use; report maintenance issues to the Swimming Program Supervisor
- Document any incidents and/or injuries by completing the Accident Form in collaboration with the Head School Nurse and reporting the incidents to the Swimming Program Supervisor
- Perform other duties associated with the safe and effective operation of CIS swimming pools as required by the Swimming Program Supervisor
- Pool maintenance
- Carry out opening and closing procedures appropriately
- Handle set-ups and take-downs, and safely store equipment according to a pre-arranged schedule in a timely and cooperative manner
- Undertaking regular professional development on child protection and safeguarding
- Signing a Staff Code of Conduct
- Reporting to the Designated Safeguarding Lead any concerns they have for the welfare of a student
